Italy and Turkey have confirmed their intentions to launch a joint bid to host the 2032 European Championship.
Turkey had declared their interest in hosting either the 2028 or the 2032 Euros, while Italy said they only wanted to host the 2032 edition of the tournament.
This joint bid means the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland) and the Republic of Ireland announced are unchallenged in their attempt to host the 2028 Euros.
UEFA says it will now work with the Italian and Turkish football federations to ensure their joint bid meets the requirements.
If the bid is eligible, it will be submitted to the UEFA Executive Committee which will meet on October 10 to decide where the 2028 and 2032 Euros will be held.
Italy and Turkey do not share a land border but both have coastline on the Mediterranean Sea.
“We are facing a historic turning point which has as its objective the enhancement of continental football, ” said Italian FA (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina.
